Notes: Late show. The band played two shows on this day. Fantastic early version of “Sadly Beautiful.” At one point Paul even yells out “F” for the chord change. One of the better performance of ‘89.
Recording: Nice audience
This was some type of benefit for the school. I saw the date listed in Rolling Stone but there wasn't any advertising for it. We scalped tix from students and then the fire dept said the show & gym were overcrowded and said they had to play 2 shows. They weren't happy at first. We got to go into the town and drink for 2 & 1/2 hours and they were awesome. I remember having to wait a couple of hours for the train back to Hoboken. Looks like the 2nd show was better. Paul pulled up a girl (roadie) to play Can't Hardly Wait mimicking Springsteen's born in the usa.
ReplyDeleteI was on line for the show - and it was a long line - when we were 2 people away from entering we were told the event was full. Obviously we weren't happy as we had tickets for weeks in advance and were/are huge fans. There were a lot of people still on line behind us, so we didn't know what was going to happen or who over-sold the show. I wasn't thrilled that we were going to see the 2nd show that night, but they were awesome! If they weren't happy about having to do two that day I couldn't tell. MTV even showed up to interview us while we waited on line for 2nd show, not sure it was ever aired. Sweet Jesus, it's been 33 years!
