Support: Young Fresh Fellows

Notes: Nice tight show. The vocals are really up front and at times sound almost like a soundboard - hard to determine. Good version of ‘I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man.’ Nice to see older tracks like ‘Otto’ and ‘Fuck School’ making and appearance. And for my money, one of the great underated Mats songs of all time ‘Go.’ Early performance of ‘Darlin’ One,’ and the performance of ‘Willpower’ is actually pretty cool. The lyrics to ‘Anarchy In The UK’ are pretty much butchered, but it’s the thought that counts...

  1. you're right there my man, the vocals are amazing! Fuck School sounds actually more 'wayward wind' than 'fuck school' & the Lesley Gore cover is gorgeous as always. as Noel Gallagher would say - a fookin' top drawer gig!
    thanks, merle

  2. Nice one. He utterly butchers the Prince lyrics, as well. Not even in the same language, I'd say!

  3. Also worth noting that they played this show without eyebrows ...

  4. I was at this fucking show! Just turned 17. Had been listening to Prince's new album ("Sign Of The Times") incessantly, and noted how much that one song sounded like the 'Mats. I had a dream the night before the show that they did the song. Imaging the look on my GF's face when they pulled it out! Priceless. Amazing show, amazing times.
