Notes: The band was tentatively scheduled to play the New York South in Florence, NJ. The poster for that shows says ‘tetative.’ So odds are it probably never happened. Other acts for that show were to be Suicidal Tendencies, The Johnsons and Husker Du.The band was tentatively scheduled to play the New York South in Florence, NJ. “I have been looking for this show for most of my adult life. In 1984 I had just relocated to DC for my first real coat and tie job, and saw this show - I’m sure it was a work night. Never saw the mats before that. Showed up at Friendship Station and there were like 30 people there and Bob Stinson was at the bar - where else - I sat next to him ready to gush about what a great guitar player he was - my idol, blah blah, first thing out of his mouth? “got any coke?” no, I had no coke, and he reluctantly engaged me in conversation until the band took the stage. A two-foot stage. I was front row and when they played ‘Billion Dollar Babies’ I thought both my brain and the roof was going to explode. Funny, I remembered them playing more of the song, but the opening chords are all that matter, right. And how many times have they played Helter Skelter, etc. Great show. I started taping them on my cassette player after that, but this show was always my favorite, living on in my memories.” - Johnnybgoode
